There were 464 incidents involving dangerous goods—307 releases and 157 anticipated releases—that required a report to Transport Canada in 2018.
The information comes from the Dangerous Goods Accident Information System, which has been updated with 2018 data. The 13 tables show the annual number of dangerous goods incidents in Canada by province and territory as well as by mode of transportation, class of dangerous good, package type, initiating event and monthly distribution.

Transport Canada's (TC) safety and security programs provide a broad range of activities including:
regulatory authorizations, by issuing certificates and licenses to people, organizations or for equipment
compliance inspections and audits

The Transportation Data and Information Hub now includes a New Motor Vehicle Registrations Data Visualization Tool. In response to the need for more information on the prevalence of electric vehicles in Canada, Statistics Canada has begun to release new motor vehicle registrations by type of fuel. The interactive dashboard provides access to current and historical data for motor vehicles in a dynamic and customizable format. As society becomes increasingly data-driven, Canadians now expect to receive statistical information in a more accessible form. The Transportation Data and Information Hub was designed to gather and deliver transportation-related statistics in a user-friendly and interactive manner. Since April 2019, the Hub has featured an interactive dashboard with statistics on air (both aircraft movements and airport activity), fuel sales and international travellers. Data on rail industry origin and destination of transported commodities have recently been added to the dashboard.

In response and as part of an effort to modernize, Statistics Canada has embarked on a journey to ensure that Canadians receive the data they need, when they need them. This journey involves using leading methods and integrating alternative data sources to produce more user-centric information products. The Canadian Freight Analysis Framework (CFAF) provides a picture of freight flows across the country by geography, commodity and mode of transportation. Estimates are available by tonnage, value and tonne-kilometres. The database can be used to analyze a number of transportation-related matters, such as highway capacity, traffic forecasting, investments in infrastructure and trade flows.
