Statistics Canada has recently released 2022 data on motor vehicle registrations, featuring a breakdown of vehicle type by fuel. The demand for motor vehicle fuels continued to rebound in 2022, with gross sales of gasoline in Canada at 42.5 billion litres, up 5.6% from 2021. Fuel sales have reached roughly 95% of the levels from 2019 (44.8 billion litres), before the COVID-19 pandemic. At roughly 18.3 billion litres in 2022, net sales of diesel fuel were just above (+2.4%) the pre-pandemic 2019 level. New freight rail service and performance information that is submitted by rail carriers on a weekly basis is now available at Weekly Rail Performance Indicators. As of April 10, 2023, this new and improved dataset replaced indicators that had been published since December 2018. This significantly expanded set of indicators, including additional geographic dimensions and a broader range of commodities, improves supply chain transparency and provide freight rail users and the public with much more relevant and precise information relating to rail service and performance in Canada. Statistics Canada has launched a new data visualization tool. The Frontier Counts: Interactive Dashboard provides access to data on the number of border crossings in an interactive and customizable format. The counts include only those travelling for tourism-related purposes. The dashboard includes four visualizations: leading indicator of air arrivals, leading indicator of land arrivals, returning Canadians, and visitors to Canada.

Statistics Canada has launched the Traffic Flow Dashboard as experimental statistical information on the traffic flow on selected road segments in the cities of Calgary and Toronto. This dashboard shows traffic count data that is obtained from traffic camera imagery using a computer vision-based system developed in the Data Exploration and Integration Lab (DEIL) at Statistics Canada. Statistics Canada recently released new motor vehicle registration data for the fourth quarter of 2021 in the Daily. There were 1,646,609 new motor vehicles registered in 2021, increasing 6.5% from 2020. New registrations of multipurpose vehicles, such as sports utility vehicles (SUVs) and crossovers, increased 16.8% in 2021 from 2020, comprising over half (55.6%) of all new registrations. Statistics Canada's Frontier Counts program counts entries into Canada by international travellers at ports of entry by mode of transport, country of residence, type and origin of traveller, and trip duration, as well as counts of automobiles, trucks and other land vehicles entering Canada.
