The Canadian Transportation Research Forum (CTRF), a non-profit association of transportation professionals, held its 53rd Annual Conference in Gatineau, Quebec, from June 3 to 6, 2018. The conference’s theme—the Future of Canada’s Transportation System—examined Canada’s future transportation challenges and the country’s ability to address these challenges and maintain a reliable and competitive transportation system. The 2018 CTRF conference consisted of three plenary sessions, concurrent paper sessions, two keynote speakers and technical tours.

The Transportation Data and Information Hub, a product of the Canadian Centre on Transportation Data, provides enhanced analytics of Canada’s transportation system. The following new data sources were recently released:
The Canadian Freight Analysis Framework provides a picture of freight flows across the country by geography, commodity and mode of transport. Estimates are available by tonnage, value, and tonne-kilometres. Launched on April 6, 2018, the Canadian Centre on Transportation Data (CCTD) is a new web portal created by Transport Canada and Statistics Canada. The Centre provides Canadians with access to numerous sources of data and information on Canada's transportation system, including performance indicators.
The CCTD will be updated monthly, quarterly or annually, as new information becomes available. Statistics Canada and Transport Canada are seeking the feedback of Canadians and businesses to help improve and expand the CCTD over time to include more statistics, analysis, functions and features,… more
